Effect of Ultrasonic Peening on Mechanical Properties of Low Carbon Steel AISI 1020 TIG Welding Joints Process

Abstract In this paper, the effect of ultrasonic peening surface treatment on mechanical properties TIG butt weld joints low-carbon steel (AISI 1020) was studied. A single V-angle ( 45 °) made sheets metal used then welded at constant parameters, namely: current, voltage. Wire filler ER70S-3 with argon to obtain many welding joints. Some them were subjected one, two and three passes. The micro-hardness, microstructure, tensile bending tested. results show increases in strength after process. test showed improvements weldments comparison base metal. On other hand, decreased Nevertheless, increased a high number contrary, process enhanced compared metal, whereas ability bend deteriorated.
